SUMMARY: The Job Developer under the Job Matching and Placement Component of Employment Ontario’s Employment Services (ES) will focus on providing Job Matching and Placement Services to two (2) clientele groups – Employers who require assistance with their recruiting, hiring and training needs through training incentives and supports; and Aboriginal Job Seekers who require an experiential placement to match their skills and interests with employment opportunities.  The Job Developer may also provide Job Retention Assistance, for those clients who need additional coaching and mentoring in order to maintain employment or to make the next step on their career path.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Matching and Placement

•      Conduct active outreach to employers to identify opportunities and promote Job Matching and Placement Support Services for Aboriginal people • Outreach to target employers to generate leads through cold-calls, personal contacts, and networking;

•      Analyze the needs of new and existing employers and guide/support them in all aspects of their recruiting, hiring and training needs

•      Seek out, grow, and nurture relationships with community employers to ensure the effective and professional representation of Aboriginal people

•      Match individuals who are unlikely to succeed in conducting their own job search, even with support due to other barriers to their employment, according to their skills and interests with work opportunities

•      Facilitate work opportunities and negotiation of employment relationships on behalf of clients including the preparation of all placement agreements and contracts with individuals and employers that include training objectives and commitments and financial incentives

•      Set up experiential or on-the-job training for individual participants with employers including volunteer, job test and hire, work experience and on the job training opportunities •      Develop a training plan with the employer and the participant and negotiate the incentive as appropriate.

•      Review and establish strategies to identify gaps where new opportunities lie, resulting in an increase in placements for our clients (both existing and new employers)

•      Provide financial support to remove barriers to participation

•      Ensure that employers meet all eligibility criteria; conduct at least one site visit per employers prior to placements to confirm a suitable and safe work environment Job Matching and Placement con’t

•      When necessary, provide employers with sensitivity training, workplace safety training and information on accommodation needs

•      Conduct monitors and provide job coaching and support during the placement including identifying and resolving workplace issues that may affect participant success

•      Administer contract with employers, including the timely processing and payment of financial incentives   Job Retention

•      Provide additional support to individuals and/or the employer as appropriate

•      Develop support plans with the individual and the employer as is appropriate

•      Link participants with Employment Counsellors to provide support during and after the job placement

•      Provide documentation of a clear rationale to support the participant accessing the job retention part of the ES service including the service plan and any preliminary work done that supports the clients need for retention services.   Additional Duties and Responsibilities

•      All aspects of the Job Developer position will utilize the Employment Ontario EOIS system for tracking clients and employers, conducting follow up and recording activities

•      Ensure all client and employer files are complete with all necessary documentation as per Employment Ontario guidelines

•      Job Developer will liaise with Employment Counsellors for updating individual action plans and supports

•      Provide assistance to both Resource and Information or to other areas of the ES delivery model as required

•      Flexibility to work with other staff and clients within the Miziwe Biik umbrella of services and programs

Person of Aboriginal, Metis or Inuit ancestry

Skills:

•      College Diploma or Certificate as a Career Counsellor or Job Developer

•      Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people in some or all aspects of Job Matching Placement and Incentives, Job Retention, or Job Search,

•      Solid understanding of Job Development and Marketing Strategies that promote and support Aboriginal people

•      Demonstrated ability to work with Metis, Inuit and First Nations residents in the GTA – including adults and youth

•      Demonstrated knowledge of resources, programs and services within the Aboriginal community

•      Computer literate and internet experience and familiar with using career resources

•      Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills

•     Strong presentation/facilitating and one to one coaching skills

•     Reliable Vehicle an Asset as this position requires frequent travel in the GTA

•     Demonstrated experience with the former Ontario Job Connect program is an asset
