The Miziwe Biik Internet Circle is a project funded by Industry Canada to assist communities in the area served by Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training establish public internet access sites. As a result, public sites have been established with eight aboriginal organizations in the Greater Toronto Area.

Basically, the overall objective of the Community Access Program is to establish public sites so that:

  • all residents in the city of Toronto will have convenient and affordable access to the Internet and Information Highway;
  • individuals can obtain the knowledge and skills to effectively use information and communication technologies;
  • all residents and organizations in the city of Toronto use the Information Highway infrastructure to help achieve their individual and collective social and economic goals, including exchanging information, transacting business and accessing government programs and services; and
  • a network of Community Access sites is created in the city of Toronto thereby linking to a national network connecting communities to each other and to the rest of the world.

 
 

This website has been constructed for use by members of the Internet Circle and contains the following:

  • Listing of participating organizations, including hours of operation and location;
  • Simple rules for use;
  • Comprehensive tutorials which will provide training to obtain basic computer skills and knowledge;
  • A searchable database of links to other sites of interest based on categories;
  • A section available for each participating organization to post information particular to each organization;
  • and, the Miziwe Biik Aboriginal On-line Campus .
