PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS FOR
ABORIGINAL ARTISTS & ARTS MANAGERS
April 2011… Miziwe Biik Development Corp and the Thunderbird Centre present two Professional Development workshops for Aboriginal artists and arts managers.  The workshops are FREE and take place at 167 Gerrard St. East, Lower Level Meeting Space.  Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

WORKSHOP A:   National & International Connections
TIME:   10:00 AM – 12:30 PM

This workshop will offer tips with building new partnerships and maintaining long-term relationships, effective networking, creative collaborations and potential funding sources. 

BREAK:   LUNCH
TIME:    12:30 PM  – 1:30 PM
NOTE:     Lunch will be provided.
 
WORKSHOP B:    Social Networking & Online Marketing
TIME:   1:30 PM – 4:00 PM

Communication and marketing online can be overwhelming.  This workshop will offer guidance on effective communication, professionalizing your social network and optimizing attention to your website.
Workshop specialists, Kerry Swanson and Denise Bolduc, together will bring a vast amount of knowledge, skills and expertise to present these four workshops.  Kerry Swanson is the former Executive Director of the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival and co-curator of the acclaimed 2007 exhibition Shapeshifters Time Travelers and Storytellers.  Kerry recently completed a Masters in Communication and Culture in a joint program between Ryerson and York University.  Denise Bolduc is an independent Presenter/Producer, Arts Manager and Consultant.  She brings 20 plus years of experience in the arts and cultural sectors.  Denise is recognized for her leadership of international, multi-disciplinary arts events and her work with the Ontario Arts Council, the Canada Council for the Arts and numerous arts organizations/companies across the country.
