Skills Participants Will Gain

  • Surface preparation skills (sanding, priming, patching)
  • Foundational painting skills (brush, roller, cutting lines)
  • Knowledge of tools, materials, and safety practices
  • Exposure to real job site expectations
  • Increased confidence and employability in the trades
  • Workplace safety practices (including PPE and WHMIS basics)

Earn while you learn

  • Apprentices work on real job sites and get paid while gaining experience
  • The union tracks unionized work hours and helps connect apprentices to unionized companies.

Apprenticeship Levels

  • Level 1: 2,000 work hours + 8 weeks in-school
  • Level 2: 4,000 work hours + 8 weeks in-school
  • Level 3: 6,000 work hours + 8 weeks in-school

Requirements

1. Education (one of the following)

  • Canadian high school diploma
  • Canadian high school transcript (minimum 16 credits from Grade 10)
  • Non-Canadian diploma (must be translated to Canadian equivalency)

2. Identification (one of the following)

  • Driver's licence
  • Ontario Photo ID card
  • Passport
  • Certificate of Indian status card

3. Social Insurance Number (SIN)

  • SIN card or
  • Full government document showing SIN
