Skills Participants Will Gain
- Surface preparation skills (sanding, priming, patching)
- Foundational painting skills (brush, roller, cutting lines)
- Knowledge of tools, materials, and safety practices
- Exposure to real job site expectations
- Increased confidence and employability in the trades
- Workplace safety practices (including PPE and WHMIS basics)
Earn while you learn
- Apprentices work on real job sites and get paid while gaining experience
- The union tracks unionized work hours and helps connect apprentices to unionized companies.
Apprenticeship Levels
- Level 1: 2,000 work hours + 8 weeks in-school
- Level 2: 4,000 work hours + 8 weeks in-school
- Level 3: 6,000 work hours + 8 weeks in-school
Requirements
1. Education (one of the following)
- Canadian high school diploma
- Canadian high school transcript (minimum 16 credits from Grade 10)
- Non-Canadian diploma (must be translated to Canadian equivalency)
2. Identification (one of the following)
- Driver's licence
- Ontario Photo ID card
- Passport
- Certificate of Indian status card
3. Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- SIN card or
- Full government document showing SIN
